Va Piano Vineyards

We were introduced to Justin Wylie in 2002. He had begun to build an estate winery and engaged Alloy (then Hand/Eye) to help him realize his Tuscan-themed brand concept. He landed on the name Va Piano Vineyards which is from an old Italian maxim; Chi va piano, va sano e va lontanohe who goes slow and steady wins the race.

Beginning with a brand mark and the winery’s first labels, our partnership has expanded as Va Piano grew. We’ve designed two sub-brands, differentiated their wine club offerings, created new labels for high-end “vineyard-designate” wines, and some private label wines, notably for Whole Foods and Costco. In 2015-16, we refreshed the Va Piano brand, creating a standardized front label format with intricate debossed filigree surrounding Va Piano’s brand mark. As part of the refresh, Alloy completely overhauled vapianovineyards.com, their e-commerce website.

Labels

From our initial engagement of one label design for two varietals, Alloy has been Va Piano’s design partner, creating unique labels for to three tiers of estate wines, two sub brands and labels for private labellings, including Costco and Trader Joes.

Alloy created Va Piano’s first site, and redesigned it in 2019. The newer site was built to include e-commerce, reservation scheduling, wine club sign-up, and an information archive for the wine trades.

Advertising, signage and Collateral

After a recommendation from the U.K.’s National Institute for Health and Care Excellence, interest in the Reducer device skyrocketed in physician and patient populations. Neovasc’s small presence in the England needed marketing communications support, and Alloy stepped up, providing print and digital brochures, a website and a small library of accessible video content.
